I am always on the lookout for natural cures, especially with flu and cold season right around the corner. Since my job is keeping athletes on the field, I'll often recommend natural, preventative measures or early intervention recipes to prevent colds and the flu.
This alternative, natural remedy will clean and revitalize your lungs.
I always use only organic, non-gmo and, if possible, local grown ingredients.
Put the water and the brown sugar in a pot and heat it until it starts to boil. Stir in the garlic, the ginger root and the turmeric. Bring back to a boil and lower to simmer for 20 minutes. Cool and store it in a covered glass container (old jar) in the refrigerator. Leave the pieces of ingredients that did not cook away in it, but you do not have to ingest them.
Shake jar before using. Take 2 tablespoons a day: 1 in the morning before breakfast and 1 in the evening before bed. This doesn't taste any worse than than your typical over the counter cough syrup and it is much better for you, with no contraindications or nasty side-effects!
